Juvenile delinquency in the Perm Krai has decreased by 18% since the beginning of the year, and repeated offences dropped by 16.8%.

Today the results of preventive work with "problem" teenagers were summed up at the interdepartmental conference "The rehabilitation approach in the prevention of juvenile crime and delinquency" arranged by Ministry of Social Development of the Perm Krai.

Conference participants noted that various technologies of working with children, including rehabilitation ones, are implemented for the prevention of delinquent behavior in the Perm Krai.

In educational institutions of the Perm Krai, there are reconciliation school services where children together with teachers resolve conflict situations. In 2010, more than 400 school reconciliation services reviewed over 1,160 conflicts with 93% having ended in reconciliation. Also, there are 42 municipal reconciliation services in the region.

Rehabilitation procedures are also used by experts during proceedings in minors’ criminal cases. During such proceedings the judge receives more extensive information on the teenager and his family, the causes of crime and the outcome of rehabilitation work with the minor. This enables to objectively assess the situation and give judgment aimed at rehabilitation of the minor and prevention of delinquent behavior in the future.
